Valentino Donna, a new couture fragrance
By Michela Marra
Lightness, grace and precious elegance are the traits that characterize Valentino’s couture world, as interpreted by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccoli; a world which finds the perfect atmosphere in Rome, in a dream that brings together past and present. “I belong to me,” says the Valentino woman, whose allure is complex yet crystalline. There is no provocation here, just a pinch of elegance, fragility and irreverence.
These are indeed the typical characteristics that define Valentino Donna’s new fragrance and actress Astrid Bergès-Frisbey has been chosen as the face of the new perfume. In the video profile created by Steven Meisel and directed by Louis Garrel, Astrid is at once a woman and an actress; she is both truth and fiction. She shatters illusion, just like in a Nouvelle Vague film, aware of the fact that being herself also means interpreting a role.
To carve out a scent that matches this personality, perfume makers Sonia Constant and Antoine Miasondieu created a subtle, light fragrance, with a profoundly Italian, seductive harmony. Bright and sensual, the perfume is marked by contrasting, noble ingredients. Rose, generously blended with notes of bergamot and iris pallida, bring the fragrance to life and create a weightless texture, while intensely warm notes of leather combined with patchouli and vanilla inevitably express a sense of carnality.
A precious fragrance that will add a touch of magic to the new season.
