Valentine’s Day: Top Spas For A Romantic Getaway by Michela Marra
I’m not a huge Valentine’s Day fan, but is there a better occasion for relaxing with your special someone? Here where I live, in Milan, my favourite Spas include QC Terme (which offers the best relaxation rooms in the city) and the Bulgari SPA (where I’ve had massages I’ll never forget). If my getaway is going to be romantic then I find the idea of spending a week or weekend in another city pretty intriguing… here are some of the destinations I’ve included in my wish list (including some I’ve had the fortune of trying and recommend). How about you, Pretty Birds? How will you be spending your love day?
Valentine’s Day: Top Spas For A Romantic Getaway
Paris, why not?
Paris has always been considered the world’s most romantic city and is always on the list of top places recommended for a weekend for two. In the heart of the Ville Lumière, you’ll find the InterContinental Paris Le Grand which, besides offering a priceless view of the Opéra, has a wonderful spa that includes a wellness center providing treatments and massages, and a sauna that will allow you to relax in a unique, charming setting. Also in the center of Paris, in rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré, you’ll find Le Bristol by La Prairie which features eight treatment rooms on the ground floor with access to a private garden. Don’t miss out on the chance to dive into Paris’s only rooftop swimming pool! The most majestic location is that of the Four Season Hotel George V, in 31 Avenue George V. The treatments are inspired by the past: choose the “Walk in Versailles” which includes massages with butter-based products!
Budapest, an out-of-the-ordinary destination
For those who love the charm of eastern Europe, Mirage Medic Hotel in Budapest is a very chic facility which is situated in a classical 19th-Century villa. This hotel’s unique feature is that it offers a vast array of therapies based on Chinese medicine: from sleep regulation to dietary rebalancing, from herbal remedies to acupuncture.
Oman is a must among destinations for those who love to relax while surrounded by sand dunes or mountains. Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar offers just that: it is the tallest five-star resort in the Middle East and recently celebrated its grand opening and is situated at the top of a spectacular canyon of the Hajar range. This is where you’ll find Anantara Spa, a true sanctuary of wellness with a holistic approach. The relaxation itinerary includes a hammam: it starts off with an reinvigorating salt scrub followed by a purifying compress with an olive-scented lather in a cocoon-like environment with heated marble.
Magical New York
The recommended Spa in this city is Mandarin Oriental (80 Columbus Circle 60th Street) which is known for its premium luxury (not exactly cheap). If you really want to pamper yourself, experiment with some of the body treatments like the Personalized Body Wrap or facial treatments or, finally, shiatsu and aromatherapy massages. If you are aiming for the best, book the “Suite Experience”, three hours of specific treatments.
