Star Wars Makeup: Paying Homage To The Film
by Michela Marra and Kristi Veliaj
Dear Pretty Birds,
If you, too, are fans of “Star Wars” (we reserved tickets almost two months ago for the Italian premier of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens!”) and can simultaneously boast being a beauty addict, this post is for you.
It is common knowledge that we are fortunate girls: we got to spend the day with Max Factor makeup artist Rajan Tolomei and create the different beauty looks that characterize the famous saga’s protagonists. Thanks to Rajan’s tips and advice, we were able to reproduce the same makeup looks created by Pat McGrath (Pat needs no introduction − we’ve already spoken about her).
Of the six looks created by Grath, we chose Mystic, exploring the theme of light and juxtaposed to Stormtrooper, representing darkness.
Mystic is an enigmatic look, inspired by the green tones of the forest and characterized by very intense colours: Pat chose to go with a smokey eye in green, emphasized by a touch of gold and purple, as well as by accentuating contouring, while lips were coloured a lovely, bright lilac.
Regarding this makeup, Pat McGrath says: «Mystic is an inhabitant of the forest, so choosing to use iridescent eye makeup and lilac on the lips adds a magical, futuristic and ethereal touch. In order for colours to remain intense, create a uniform layer by blotting foundation over the eyelid before applying other makeup and gently scrub lips».
We tried it out with the precious help of Rajan: the results were very satisfying.
There are only a few days left before the film premiers: what do you think? Is it not the perfect time to try? If you, too, want to get into the “Star Wars” mood, stock up on brushes, and makeup and follow our expert advice!
Mystic: get the look
It is essential to have a radiant base for this look. Apply Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation with your fingers to achieve a natural, luminous finish.
Blot the green metallic shade by Max Factor Smokey Eye Drama Kit in Magnetic Jades in the eye socket moving outwards. Intensify the external part of the eye by moving toward the temple with a darker shade, and emphasize the eye some more with Max Factor Wild Shadow Pencil in Fierce Lime along with Max Factor Wild Shadow Pot in Untamed Green.
Apply the purple metallic shade from Max Factor Smokey Eye Drama Kit in Luxe Lilacs along the base of the lower lashes. Intensify the eye’s luminosity by applying Max Factor Excess Shimmer Eyeshadow in Crystal to the inner corners, while on the eyelids, blend it with the green tones.
Apply Max Factor Crème Puff Blush in Lavish Mauve e Gorgeous Berries to cheekbones.
Define and separate lashes with Max Factor Clump Defy Mascara in Black.
Complete your makeup look by adding colour to lips: first apply Max Factor Lipfinity Long Lasting in Eternally Luscious and then Colour Elixir Gloss in Glistening Dew.
