Hallo Pretty Birds,
If you’ve already gone through our favorite looks from the New York SS 2015 shows, here’s another big style treat for you. With London Fashion week wrapping up, we’ve put together a gallery of our favorite looks from the British capital: Erdem, Tom Ford, Jonathan Anderson, Mary Katrantzou, Peter Pilotto… These designer surely know how to get us always really excited about their collections… Enjoy!
Many designers played on lightness and femininity, the clothes were embellished with glitter and sequins (Tom Ford, Matthew Williamson), perspex discs (Roksanda Ilincic’s sculptural collection, inspired by the American artist Julia Dault), florals (Marchesa’s bohemian girls and Peter Pilotto’s 1970s psychedelic girls had 3D florals on their clothes) and ropes (Christopher Kane). They opted for iridescent organza and tulle as their favorite fabrics (Christopher Kane, Antonio Berardi, Pringle of Scotland), and many offered busy botanical/biological prints (Erdem -his dark exotism collection was incredible – and Matthew Williamson, Marchesa and Mary Katrantzou).
Jonathan Saunders worked a romantic, approachable look with a focus on volume and handcraft, and showed girlish silhouettes with a rebellious effect (we loved the millefeuille style organza flowers). Antonio Berardi also played with romance and lightness, and his silhouettes and dreamy dresses marked a new direction to his work. J.W.Anderson chic sophisticated looks were instead daring and somewhat disquieting. We loved the floppy sunhats in black leather.
Burberry Prorsum’s country Spring girls walked through a Spring Eden with whimsical and sensual clothes lined in shearling, ostrich feathers and glossy leather patches – they reminded us of beautiful spring time fairies. While Tom Ford’s Glam Rock collection was wild: glitter and sequins and seductive evening looks inspired by the photographs of Carlo Mollino. We loved it.Why? It was very Hedi Slimane…
