Hey there Pretty Birds,
Ralph Rucci has left the fashion house he founded in 1994. The news came out late last night and, according to a company statement, the designer is leaving to “pursue other creative endeavours” (source: WWD.com). A new creative director will be appointed before the end of the year. In the meantime, an in-house team will design the pre-fall and fall 2015 collections and the first collection for the named-to-be designer will be that of resort 2016. Throughout the years, Rucci made a name for himself with his sophisticated and highly detailed clothes, worn by the most diverse women – from Deeda Blair and Patti Smith to Martha Stewart and Whoopi Goldberg. His aim has always been to ““cut, cut, cut… [and] make clothes in new ways, so a woman becomes empowered and not decorated” (source: WWD.com). His many mentors and muses throughout the years have included Balenciaga, Pauline de Rothschild, Halston, Elsa Peretti, James Galanos and Hubert de Givenchy… The question is now just one: will the brand survive without it’s founder? We’ll have to wait and see.
