Hey There Pretty Birds!
It’s 20 years for the conceptually feminine, quirky, whimsical Milanese brand Marni!
The brand, founded in 1994 by its creative Director Consuelo Castiglioni, kicked off celebrations this past Sunday with a lush flower market at one of Milan’s most special landmark sites, the Rotonda della Besana. Guests who attended the brand’s gorgeous Spring/Summer 2015 runway show were invited, post-show, to the special installation which included what felt like miles and miles of spectacular blooms, limited edition design objects for the home, garden and travel (think adorable insects, giraffes and flamingo wire sculptures and chic lawn décor), lots and lots of yummy treats as well as activities for the little ones (BTW – the Besana hosts Milan’s Children’s Museum). After the press viewing, the market was opened to the public for shopping, fun and post vacation meet-ups (remember that Italians go on holiday for three weeks in August, so September is spent catching up with friends). And, in addition to all of this awesome merriment, in line with the brand’s ongoing commitment to charity, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of objects from the market will be donated to the Vimala Association, a charity that provides aid and services to seriously disabled Tibetan children.
It was a bright and brilliantly sunny day, with market goers enjoying all of the beautiful colors, flowers, friends and treats. A most welcomed break and finish to an intense week of shows, events and presentations. And for me, definitely one of Milan’s most memorable. xoxo, Tamu
