I won’t comment on whether it’s too fast or not, but what I will say is that I see an opening for small couture shops. I don’t mean by that the hyper convoluted idea of haute couture, I think there is a space, for a small business to thrive, maybe even a large business where a couturier could receive clients who’d like clothing that were more idiosyncratic to their personalities and more tailored to their bodies and a more personal approach to shopping. I started this train of thought whilst reading Tom Ford’s interview with John Currin in February’s issue of Interview Magazine. But I wonder at the same time if that’s even necessary? What do you think?
