It’s exactly what I would do. And I would eat fresh fruit all day, l could go buy them from the woman in this photograph. Take long siestas and get ready for salsa, merigue and tango all night long. I’d probably have dinner at La Vitrola and, end up watching the sunrise while skinny dipping at the beach with all my friends dancing to this song. If I had my way…
A fruit vendor, Cartagena Colombia. Don’t you love how she just stuck a few leaves in her hair for style?
Song: Pacifico by Afrosound, a compilation of Colombian music from the 1960’s.
It would be wonderful to explore the crossover of African music to Latin America and the Caribbean in the 1960’s. I got a bit of soukous myself growing up in St.Lucia. Amazing how sound travels. There is a sting of things to explore here, like the explosion of Pop Culture in Africa at the time due to a lot of the countries becoming independant and a tremendous influx of American Pop music and fashion. But also how everything really starts to influence everything else.
