We’ve been shopping,
we’ve been shopping,
As I write this, there are 06 days, 10 hours, 46 minutes and 26 seconds ‘till Christmas. And after a few nights of late night shopping, my ATPB girls and I have pretty much planned out our holiday outfits. You, yes? No? What are you waiting for? Haven’t had time? Yeah, it is a really hectic time of year. But no worries, we picked some things for you while we were shopping for ourselves. Cause, hey…that’s what birds are for.
I’ll be spending the holidays in Cortina d’Ampezzo this season. Cortina for short, but I just love the full name, so Italian-posh.
Since it’s the first time for me, I’ve been thinking about what I will wear in the evenings for aperitivos, dinner and for Christmas and New Year (stay tuned for my “what I’m packing” post).
I often pack my suitcase with local fashion customs in mind. I never change anything about my personal style aesthetic, but I like to be prepared for every occasion – formal dinner at a hotel restaurant vs. a cozy meal at a ski lodge, which is only accessible via cable car.
During my recent weekend in Cortina with Armani for it’s ski season opening event, I noticed that, in comparison to Swiss St. Moritz, the local residents tend to be more dressed-up and less sporty when they are out and about town during the day. An observation that was confirmed by my many of my Italian friends who have spent time there and describe the general mood as: very traditional Italian, more-is-more, fur-friendly, winter-tan abundant, and just plain AMAZING. Gearing my evening outfits on this lead, I’ll be packing jumpsuits, culottes, asymmetrical printed skirts, vests and other tailored pieces that work well when the sun goes down (stay tuned!).
Giulia on the other hand, is newly single and has a full roster of events planned for the next fifteen days. She describes her evening look as a “version of her day look, but with higher heels and amplified lipstick and eyeliner.” She’s starting off her social calendar with a gorgeous transparent pencil skirt layered over fifties-style panties – smoking hot.
When I asked Anna, our new intern, what she’d be wearing, she confided that shoes were at the center of her universe, and that she would plan her outfits based around the shoes that she finds under her Christmas tree.
I would really love to hear about what you’re planning to wear for the holidays and why. Please tell me in the comments. It might be the outfit missing from my suitcase.
For now please enjoy our edit for you. Xoxo, Team ATPB.
