The 23rd edition of the BCA – Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, dedicated to raising awareness of breast cancer prevention, begins today. The campaign was created by Estée Lauder Companies who this year, for the first time, will be partnering with AIRC – Italian Association for Cancer Research – in Italy. For 50 years now, AIRC has been actively involved in funding oncology research. The BCA Campaign was first launched in 1992, by Evelyn H. Lauder with the Pink Ribbon non-profit initiative. Since then, the pink ribbon itself has become the universal symbol for breast cancer awareness. BCA is currently active in over 70 countries and has raised over 55 million dollars in support of global research, education and doctors. In Italy, the BCA Campaign will be officially inaugurated at Expo Milano today (October 1, 2015) at 8:00pm, when the Tree Of Life will be exceptionally adorned and lit with pink lights. “For The Estée Lauder Companies, supporting the fight against breast cancer every year for the past 23 years has been and continues to be deeply satisfying and makes us proud,” says Edoardo Bernardi, Managing Director and Director General of The Estée Lauder Companies Italia, “and it is even more so a source of pride if we consider the fact that the pink ribbon, which has become the universal symbol of the fight against cancer, was created by Evelyn Lauder”. The company has designated eight different products to the project. For each product sold throughout the month of October, $5 dollars will be donated to financing research and awareness.
