Coin Excelsior, Venice: Redesigned for your shopping pleasure! By Tamu McPherson
Hey there Pretty Birds,
Last Thursday I returned to Venice for the opening of Coin Excelsior’s newest home. For those of you not familiar with the Coin Group: the retailer was originally founded in Venice in 1916 as a pushcart business by Vittorio Coin, and today is a leading Italian upmarket department store chain dedicated to apparel, home decorations, accessories and beauty. The company recently launched Coin Excelsior, a retail-upgrading strategy that offers a premium contemporary shopping experience and is in the process of rolling out the concept in its historic locations. After successfully introducing the concept in Rome on Via Cola di Rienzo, the group focuses its eyes on Venice and the longstanding Cannaregio store. Laid out over four floors, the space has been re-envisioned by a team of architects from Studio Vincenzo De Cotiis. And the cherry on top of the pie is a total-feel-good installation designed by the multi-media artist Felice Limosani. The work features the famous quote, “If you want to be Happy, Be,” by Leo Tolstoy reproduced in pink and turquoise neon lights placed on the walls at the center of the store and reflected on a rectangular mirrored panel. Well, if that doesn’t put you into the mood to shop… the line up of must-have brands will. Pop-in between museum visits and Spritz to snag cute looks from Au Jour Le Jour, Kenzo, MSGM and N21.
Here’s a quick gallery of me and some wonderful friends who also attended the opening, and who I look forward to featuring on All the Pretty Birds.
