Cake Decorating at Gap Denim Kitchen

Posted on April 02 2015

Last week Gap invited me and some of my favorite friends here in Milan to their Denim Kitchen for a sweet cake decorating event and dinner. Set at Cavoli E Merenda, a lovely Restaurant and Cooking School on Corso Magenta, the focus of the evening was to bring together some of Milan’s editors and bloggers and let their creativity flow over denim, dinner and a beautifully decorated cake.

Other than frosting, sprinkles and M&Ms, I’ve never actually dabbled in cake art. Have you? While extremely therapeutic (I could do it for hours, all those little lines), it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be – my little pairs of jeans, denim jackets and dresses came out a little wonky even after Sara Moschini of Grazia and Gilda Ambrosio gave me excellent design (Gilda) and illustration (Sara) advice. No worries though, with so many super creatives present in the kitchen, my little works of sugar blended in nicely and the finished product which we enjoyed as dessert after a scrumptious dinner was errything!
