Bronzer: The Latest Trends For Spring by Michela Marra

Hi Pretty Birds,

Bronzer is a product that simply should not be missing from your beauty bag, especially in spring and summer. With a few, quick strokes, it helps transform our dull complexion, bringing a sun-kissed finish to our face in what we can consider a preview of the classic summer skin tone those with fair complexions acquire. If your skin is dark, bronzer can illuminate and warm your complexion by creating the right shades for contouring −the game of light and shadows which enhances our features and ultimately hides any flaws on our face. First of all, we must pay attention when choosing the right nuance: it must be 1 or 2 shades darker than your natural skin tone. Also, depending on the effect we want to create, we can choose between a shimmery or shiny finish − for example, when we want to illuminate our face − or a matte finish, which we recommend when you want to work on contours.

Bronzer For Sun-kissed Skin
Apply the product on your forehead, nose, cheekbones and chin, creating a blended effect. Be careful not to go overboard with the amount of powder you use. Our advice? You risk creating an excessive difference between the tone of your face and that of your neck so we suggest blending a bit of product on your neck as well.

Bronzer For Contouring
Choose a cold, opaque shade and blend it below the cheekbone, on the temples and under the jawbone. Unlike the previously mentioned technique, indeed the main objective here is to sculpt the face creating shadowy areas.

Bronzer With The 3E Method
Some makeup artists have taught us this very simple technique: all you need to do is blend the powder starting from the temples and moving to the area above the cheekbone and then heading toward the jawbone, as if drawing an ‘E’ on the sides of your face.

Whatever your objective, we’ve selected and tested some new products for you.  Have a look at the gallery and choose your favourite.

Les Sahariennes Bronzing Stones in 1 Stones by Yves Saint Laurent give lighter complexions a tanned look. The bonus here is that it has an ultra-sensory texture.

Duo Poudre Bronzante et Blush by Maria Galland is a powder and blush combined in a single product with a silky touch and a coconut scent. The treatment complex has a base of pomegranate, and blueberry and cranberry butter which keeps skin hydrated and reduces the appearance of fine wrinkles.

Tom Ford Bronzing Powder in Bronze Age features a light, silky texture. Formulated with mixture of minerals exclusively developed using a sun stone, ambre and black tourmaline combined with unique pigments, it enhances the skin’s natural radiance.

BareMinerals bareSkin® Sheer Sun™ Serum Bronzer is a liquid bronzer with a light texture created to even out skin tone and give it a tanned look. It can also be applied on top of foundation for a tanned skin look. Our advice? Use the specific brush to apply and spread the product over your face and neckline evenly, pressing the applicator directly onto the brush and mixing.

Benefit Dew The Hoola Liquid Bronzer has a light, delicate texture that guarantees a genuinely natural-looking ambre colour. Just apply a small amount of the product before your makeup or after applying your foundation to give skin a bronze tone.

Estée LauderBronze Goddess Powder Bronzer has a silky consistency. Spread it with a brush starting from the upper area of the face, along the hairline and cheekbones where the sun tends to hit the face, without forgetting the final touch along the central area of the neck and collarbone.

Sweethearts Bronzer Too Faced comes in two shades which can be mixed together to create different effects every time.

Artdeco Bronzing Powder Compact has an ultra-light texture and is long-lasting. It contains vitamin E and is parabens-free.

Rimmel Bronze Perfection Duo is a palette featuring a powder and illuminator which have compact, silky textures. The #001 Golden Sands shade is the perfect trio for lighter skin tones: the illuminator and powder have a golden hue, while the blush comes in a soft baby pink and gives cheeks a delicate, fresh look.

No Bronzer Bronzer Dr Perricone HD leaves a subtle hint of warm, elegant color and protects skin with a mineral SPF 30. Its easily adjustable color reproduces the pigmentation of healthy skin and emanates a light with is suitable for all skin types. Advice on how to use it best: shake well to release minerals and pigments and distribute 1-2 drops on the palm of your hand. Apply the product in small dots on your forehead, cheeks and chin. Press and spread using fingers to create a game of shadows and deepen the indentation below your cheekbones, ultimately achieving the coverage you desire.
