New Balance Trainers
The cool boys at my high school wore them color-coordinated to perfection with their polos and corduroy trousers – Patrick M., Derrick S. and Zack D. They had such amazing style.
I began to wear them to the gym after college. I had a classic grey pair that lasted for years. I was never without them; they completed my gym aesthetic.
At a certain point, I noticed that my favorite fashion designers wore them too, when they took their bows after their runway shows – a fact that raised them to icon status in my personal stylebook.
When it was time for my son to wear trainers, we got him a red and grey pair with Velcro straps that he could manage. Now that he knows how to tie his laces, we’ve evolved into big boy ones – he currently wears orange and green ones with a plaid lining. They are the perfect solution for growing boys who don’t always want to wear dress shoes. No funny looks from the grandparents when they wear them with an oxford shirt and dress trousers. It’s become totally accepted.
And now, one of my favorite New York Retailers, Bergdorf Goodman, has teamed up with the ultra-cool brand to launch the “NB Grey” premium collection that features iconic New Balance classics recreated in sophisticated and unique materials. Amazing right!?
In my photos, I wear the 620 Suede and Woven Trainer in pink, purple and blue. To discover the rest of the amazing collection, see how my fellow bloggers, Camille Charrièr (Camille Over the Rain Bow), Jane Aldridge (Sea of Shoes), Anh Sundstrom (9 to 5 Chic) and Blair Eadie (Atlantic Pacific) style their BGxNB’s and to get a pair for yourself, head over to: http://www.bergdorfgoodman.com/Shoes/New-Balance/Complete-the-Look/cat463903_cat456400_cat261003/c.cat.
